Support after a road or motor accident

At Home Care is a registered provider for multiple government-managed motor vehicle accident and transport accident injury schemes, including the following:

As a registered attendant care provider, At Home Care can deliver treatment, care, and support to individuals who have a claim with the state body, including in-home care and nursing services, domestic assistance, respite care, and regional care services.

Catastrophic injuries include spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, multiple amputations, severe burns and permanent traumatic blindness.

For more information on the injury scheme and how we can support you, please contact your local team.

The Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA) provides motor vehicle injury insurance to WA drivers, often called CTP (Compulsory Third Party). It also provides self-insurance arrangements for WA Government agencies. This includes workers’ compensation, liability and property cover. Motor injury insurance on WA-registered vehicles provides cover for injuries caused to others in a crash anywhere in Australia.

At Home Care is an approved attendant care provider for ICWA.

The Catastrophic Injuries Support (CIS) scheme provides lifetime treatment, care and support for people catastrophically injured in motor vehicle crashes in Western Australia who are unable to establish the fault of another driver.

At Home Care is a registered provider under the provisions of the Motor Vehicle (Catastrophic Injuries) Act 2016 and can provide support to you through the Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA) Catastrophic Injury Support Scheme.

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) is a Victorian Government-owned organisation set up to promote road safety and help pay for treatment and benefits for people injured in transport accidents. The TAC is a ‘no-fault’ insurance scheme provided by the Victorian Government. This means that if you are injured in a transport accident in Victoria, you can file a TAC claim to help cover the costs of your treatment and support, regardless of whether the accident was your fault.

At Home Care is an approved attendant care provider for TAC.

The National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ) is a no-fault Scheme that provides eligible people with necessary and reasonable treatment, care, and support, in some cases for their lifetime.

Anyone who experiences serious personal injuries as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Queensland, on or after 1 July 2016, may be eligible to receive support from NIISQ.

What are attendant care providers?

Attendant care agencies employ support workers and nurses who assist you with tasks you cannot do yourself due to your injuries. Providers must be registered with the state’s insurance scheme before they start providing services to you.

Attendant care providers are independently reviewed against quality standards by each state’s major insurance scheme provider for motor vehicle and catastrophic injuries.

Providers must meet these standards and have agreed to provide a particular level of service, to abide by the insurance scheme’s policy and the specified dispute resolution procedures, allowing for each state insurance scheme to respond to any issues on your behalf and obligations the agencies must meet.

State-approved care providers

The types of support offered by attendant care providers are described in the following categories:

  • Clinical and high-level support: This includes services such as managing oxygen, ventilator management, tracheostomy management, Enteral feeding, and other complex care services.
  • Daily and physical support: Can include physical supports such as transferring, mobility, transport, and personal care
  • Registered nursing: Tasks that a registered nurse must perform, including.

Approved attendant care providers possess the skills and experience necessary to support individuals with severe injuries in their day-to-day activities, offering assistance such as personal care, domestic support, home rehabilitation programs, and participation in community activities.

It is essential to select an agency that meets your individual needs. Be mindful that there may be agencies that are yet to meet the insurance scheme’s standards.
