Important Updates

Mandatory Online Training

Don’t forget to complete the following online infection control training modules. This training is compulsory for everyone working in the community.

COVID-19 Cases and Contacts Guide

For details about protocols for CV+ and Close Contact, the most up-to-date information is available for the following health departments:

Rapid Antigen Tests

A rapid antigen test (RAT) is a convenient, safe, and fast way to test for COVID 19 and recognised as an acceptable form of test. They will provide a result within 15 to 30 minutes and are available for purchase at supermarkets, pharmacies, and other suppliers.

  • Western Australia – RAT kits are available for purchase from supermarkets, pharmacies, and other retailers.
  • Victoria – Free RATs are available from local councils. You can collect 2 packs of 5 + an extra 2 packs for each person in the household and people with disability and carers can get 4 packs of 5.
  • Queensland – if you have an eligible Commonwealth concession card or are part of an eligible group, you can access free RAT kits from Queensland Health RAT distribution points. Alternatively, they can be purchased in retail shops and pharmacies.
  • New South Wales – RAT kits are available for purchase from pharmacies and other retailers.
  • At Home Care – At times of high caseloads or the unavailability of a RAT we have tests available, and you can speak to your Engagement Coordinator/Area Manager.

Working with close contacts or confirmed cases

The following information will prepare you to provide supports where a client or fellow team member may be a close or confirmed case.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Instruction Videos

Face masks work well to stop the spread of COVID-19, but only if they are put on and removed safely. If you are working with a positive COVID-19 client, you will be given a specialised respiratory mask.

These videos show how to put on and remove both types of masks safely.

Working with COVID-19 positive clients

If you are providing supports to a client who tests positive for COVID-19, you will be provided with some or all the following personal protective equipment (PPE).

These reference sheets provide guidance on how to wear specialised PPE safely and what to do after use.

House Cleaning and Vehicle Cleaning

Regular cleaning of homes and vehicles is required, but the level of cleaning changes if you are working with someone who is positive for COVID-19 or showing symptoms.
