The safety and rights of our clients is fundamental to the provision of our care and nursing services. At Home Care is committed to safeguarding the rights of people with disability and ensuring our organisation is part of a national culture of accessibility, inclusion, and respect.
The Disability Royal Commission was established in April 2019 in response to community concern about reports of violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of people with a disability.
The Commission will investigate:
At Home Care fully supports the Royal Commission and has a zero-tolerance policy regarding the health and safety of people with disability. We welcome this inquiry and its initiatives to ensure all people are provided with a safe and secure environment that protects and upholds their rights. We work closely with our clients, their families, carers, guardians, advocates, stakeholders and, importantly, our team to ensure we provide our services in a safe and supportive environment where everyone is listened to and comfortable to communicate any concerns or suggestions. The Royal Commission has established a national hotline, 1800 517 199, to provide information about their work and answer any questions you may have. The national hotline may also be used by those who wish to make a submission and find it difficult to use the submission form.
Various options are also available for advocacy, financial, legal, and emotional support which can be found on the Royal Commission’s website.
